George's Intro!

Hello everyone and welcome to our blog! As Lydia mentioned we're here to give a glimpse into our lives and events that happens to us, to hopefully give you enjoyment, laughter, and maybe learn from our mistakes and successes!

Thank you for joining us on this wild ride as we plan to get married this year (2017) and start this mash up of 2 people into 1 full partnership for life. From what you can see in the title this is going to be interesting putting a pharmacist with and engineer. Two completely different fields of work with different philosophies, of which we have barely scratched the surface.

I also want to bring to you some reviews and thoughts on things we try out that could help you! I'm planning to share our meals we make from scratch, Costco ready-made dinner reviews, and different restaurants we go to. We are also planning to share with you our trips and vacations so you know what the best things to do are and what to avoid.

So buckle up and come with us on this incredible journey!

Fast Forward

I wonder what life will be like in one year.... George and I will be (happily?) married. Living in our new house together. Probably settled into a comfortable sleep, work, cook, eat, sleep routine.

Right now, my entire brain seems to be screaming "wedding... Wedding... WEDDING!!!!" So much to do, so many decisions to make.

We've screened so many vendors already (venue and catering, photography, videography, decorators), and I feel like we have just gotten started. I have probably sent out more emails in the last month than I did in the past year (possible hyperbole). And then after gathering all that data, we have to make a decision. And I'm not good at decision making... Perhaps I'm afraid of making the "wrong" decision. What if we regret this choice later on?!

Weddings have become overblown extravaganzas. Our culture puts an emphasis on THE PERFECT WEDDING. I am told by Pinterest, The Knot, Facebook, Instagram that I need the perfect dress, the perfect venue, the perfect photographer, the perfect day. I even have been googling "weather in September" to perhaps unconsciously will the weather into submission for my wedding day! There's an insane amount of pressure to manufacture "the best day of my life."

Do other bride-to-be's enjoy it? Supposedly wedding planning is amazing, but I'm over it. I'm ready for the quiet and routine of next year to roll around!

Venue, checked!

Wedding planning is in full swing. If you ever thought you would have a moment to breathe after getting engaged, think again. Once you get engaged and it is announced (no take backs!)... prepare for the onslaught of questions to begin:
When is the wedding?! Where are you getting married?! What are your wedding colors? Who's your bridesmaids? Wait, when is the wedding, again?!

Well, I can finally give all the excited, overeager supplicants an answer! Aha, we are getting married at Lakeside Gardens!

George and I have slightly different reasons for loving Lakeside.

George will tell you about the beauty of Lakeside with its ponds/waterfalls/gardens. It's also secluded without being too far from the city. There are even swans that swim on the lake (supposedly... we have not yet eye-witnessed that claim). Plus it fulfills our desire for an outdoor wedding, with an indoor reception, all at one location.

I, however, have a purely practical reason for choosing Lakeside. The bottom line warms my heart.
